BOOKS BROUGHT TO DRC
Since 2016, Books for Congo has brought more than 56,000 books to the Democratic Republic of Congo in partnership with Books for Africa. There are few books available in DRC, so the best and most efficient way to put quality books in the hands of more Congolese people is by shipping containers of books to DRC.
BOOKS PURCHASED LOCALLY
We purchase as many books locally and by African authors as possible. Africa and Congo have a rich history of storytelling and in the modern age these stories are also told through books. We seek to continue this legacy by putting books written by African authors, which are in high demand, on library shelves.
PROMOTION OF LOCAL AUTHORS
Books for Congo organizes library events such as author talks where local authors share their stories and books with their communities. We also organize writing workshops for children's books, and regularly provide prizes for finalists of poetry and writing competitions.
